Who is behind Pyrpose Energy.
We are building the infrastructure for a world in which people generate, share and manage their own energy: for an energy system that is fair, secure and supported by everyone.
The ability to act requires energy.
Christoph Maichel founded Pyrpose Energy on an insight that is as personal as it is universal: the ability to act requires energy, in the human body as much as in a society. Just as sleep, nutrition and exercise are the basis for everything else, a supply of affordable, renewable electricity is the precondition for economic freedom and social stability. From this parallel came his vision: a decentralised energy infrastructure that makes people and neighbourhoods more independent.
Until now, energy has been a top-down system: a few generate, everyone pays. Pyrpose Energy gives people the opportunity to shape their energy supply themselves, in their own surroundings, whether they own a roof or rent their home.
We make energy a neighbourhood matter.
We buy electricity from local producers and supply the households next door. Our offer for households is called Nachbarschafts-Strom, and in every tariff the contracting party is Pyrpose Energy GmbH. The money for the electricity therefore stays local instead of ending up at a trading desk.
Our platform is built to let energy suppliers, municipal utilities and grid operators offer local supply under their own name, too.
